A clean break from the leftfield textures of her ‘Magnoon’ era, and the first indication of where the Lollipop EP is heading.
Egyptian-Italian artist Lella Fadda steps into polished pop on ‘Mahesh Far2a’, in the first taste of her upcoming EP Lollipop. Marking a clear shift from the leftfield and alternative textures of her ‘Magnoon’ era, the single finds her embracing a brighter, more radio-friendly direction.
The track bears the fingerprints of Amr Mostafa, who composed and produced the record, much like his recent work with Ziad Zaza on Red Bull’s Mazzika Salonat. Mostafa once again takes an artist rooted outside mainstream pop and reshapes their sound through his signature songwriting style. Built around clean chord progressions and memorable melodies, ‘Mahesh Far2a’ leans into the polished Egyptian pop blueprint that has defined much of his catalogue for the past two decades.
‘Mahesh Far2a’ blends acoustic pop with flamenco-inspired guitars, handclaps and warm live instrumentation, leaving behind the trap percussion and heavy low-end that characterised much of Fadda’s earlier work. Written by Mostafa Nasser, the lyrics explore the emotional exhaustion of a relationship that’s reached its end. Fadda delivers the song with a restrained vocal performance capturing the acceptance of finally moving on.
