Moroccan rapper Tchubi’s ‘MATHASEBNICH’ comes as the lead single and opening chapter of his cinematic concept album, A Man With A Gun, released via Abu Recordings. Directed by Mehdi Messaoudi, the seven-minute release blends atmospheric rap with narrative-driven filmmaking, kicking off an audiovisual series that will unfold alongside the album.
The episode follows a fictionalised Tchubi and his crew as they navigate debt, family tension and street-level friction. After a series of arguments, the group heads into the city at night and tries to get into a nightclub, only to be turned away at the door, leaving the episode on an uneasy cliffhanger. The production reworks elements of Sherine Abdel-Wahab’s 2009 “Mat7asebnesh,” chopping and pitch-shifting vocal fragments from the original into an ambient layer beneath slow trap percussion, heavy sub-bass and airy synths.
