DJ Snake shoots ‘Cairo Express’ in Manshiyat Naser

Filmed entirely on location with local talent, the Nomad cut builds a fictional Cairo out of mahraganat's actual energy.

Part of DJ Snake’s Nomad album, Cairo Express plunges viewers into the heart of Cairo through a fictional, chaotic, and highly stylized narrative inspired by the city’s street culture and the explosive energy of Mahraganat music. Directed by CHNDY and filmed entirely in Manshiyat Naser with local talent, the video offers a visual interpretation of what Mahraganat feels like from the inside.

While the video embraces humor and absurdity, it also references one of the ways music historically spread through Egyptian neighborhoods. Long before streaming platforms and social media dominated music discovery, tuk-tuks, microbuses, and local drivers often acted as moving advertisements for new music.

The video’s AI-inspired visual chaos is not simply a stylistic choice, but a way of translating the feeling of Mahraganat into cinematic language. Through humor, exaggeration, and surrealism, the music video captures the city’s noise, unpredictability, collective energy, and ability to turn ordinary streets into an everlasting Mahragan.
