Moroccan artist Nova Queen, formerly known as Psycho Queen, and German-Moroccan rapper Silva have joined forces on ‘Ghorba’, a three-minute track explores the struggles of undocumented migrants and people living between countries. The song touches on limited opportunities, financial hardship, and the pressure of providing for one’s family, while balancing feelings of alienation with ambition.
Written by Nova Queen and Silva, the track combines contemporary rap and pop elements with touches of dargi music. Nova Queen describes ‘Ghorba’ as her first step onto the international scene, explaining that she wanted to give a voice to people who feel like strangers, whether in their own country or far from home. The collaboration came together during a session with producer MB, when she felt Silva’s raw delivery and storytelling contrasted with her own approach.
The music video was directed by Hamza ElYemlehi, who has previously worked with Nova Queen on videos including ‘Talfa Fik’, which follows a teenager from a disadvantaged background as he tries to earn a living and support his family.
